Goldman Sachs Group Stock Performance

The Goldman Sachs Group preferred shares (GS-PA) currently trade at $19.21, per SID market data, with an average daily volume of approximately 75,777 shares. The preferred series reflects relatively moderate trading activity compared to the common equity, consistent with the fixed-income-like characteristics typical of preferred securities in the Financial Services sector. The parent company maintains a total market capitalization of approximately $203.2 billion, according to Massive/Polygon data. GS-PA carries a beta of 1.348, indicating higher sensitivity to broad market movements than the average security, which is notable for a preferred instrument that typically exhibits lower volatility than common stock. This elevated beta suggests the preferred shares have experienced price swings correlated with broader equity market trends, potentially reflecting investor sentiment around interest rate expectations and Goldman Sachs' overall credit profile during recent trading periods.

Goldman Sachs Group Valuation Analysis

Goldman Sachs Group trades at a consolidated price-to-earnings ratio of 16.92, per SID market data, positioning the firm within a moderate valuation range relative to large-cap financial services peers. The price-to-book ratio stands at approximately 2.27, according to SEC filings, indicating the market values Goldman's equity at more than double its book value — a premium reflecting the firm's franchise strength in investment banking and trading. The PEG ratio of 1.99 suggests the stock is trading near fair value when adjusting for expected earnings growth, with a ratio above 1.0 typically indicating growth is already priced into the equity. The preferred series GS-PA offers a dividend yield of approximately 1.54%, which serves as the primary return mechanism for preferred shareholders. Within the broader Financial Services sector, Goldman's valuation metrics reflect the firm's position as a systematically important global financial institution with diversified revenue streams.

Smart Money Activity for GS-PA

Goldman Sachs Group registers a composite smart money score of 54 out of 100, per SID market data, generating a neutral signal that suggests neither strong accumulation nor distribution by sophisticated market participants. The institutional component scores a robust 21.0 out of 25, indicating substantial institutional ownership and confidence in the firm's long-term positioning, according to 13F institutional filings. Insider activity scores 12.5 out of 25, reflecting a moderate level of insider transactions, per SEC Form 4 filings, without signaling pronounced directional conviction from corporate executives and directors. Congressional trading activity registers at 12 out of 25, suggesting limited notable positioning by members of Congress. The dark pool activity score of 8.5 out of 25 indicates below-average off-exchange institutional block trading activity in recent periods. The combination of strong institutional holdings paired with muted insider and dark pool signals produces an overall neutral composite reading, suggesting professional investors are maintaining existing positions without aggressively adding or reducing exposure.

Goldman Sachs Group Earnings Outlook

No recent earnings data specific to the Goldman Sachs preferred series GS-PA is currently available for detailed analysis, per company earnings reports. However, the parent company's consolidated P/E ratio of 16.92 and PEG ratio of 1.99, according to SID market data, provide indirect indicators of the firm's underlying earnings trajectory. The PEG ratio near 2.0 suggests analysts expect moderate earnings growth that is largely reflected in the current valuation. For preferred shareholders, the firm's earnings capacity is particularly relevant as it underpins the sustainability of the approximately 1.54% dividend yield that GS-PA currently provides. Goldman Sachs' ability to maintain and cover preferred dividend obligations depends on consolidated net income generation across its investment banking, global markets, asset management, and platform solutions divisions. Investors in preferred securities typically monitor earnings stability and capital adequacy ratios as primary indicators of dividend security rather than absolute growth metrics.

Wall Street Analyst Ratings for GS-PA

Specific Wall Street analyst coverage and consensus price targets for the Goldman Sachs preferred series GS-PA are not widely published in the same format as common equity ratings, as preferred securities are typically evaluated through fixed-income and credit analysis frameworks rather than traditional equity ratings. Per SID consensus data, the parent company Goldman Sachs maintains a market capitalization of approximately $203.2 billion, reflecting the common equity's substantial institutional following. The preferred shares trade at $19.21 with a dividend yield of 1.54%, according to SID market data, and analyst assessment of these instruments generally centers on interest rate sensitivity, credit quality, and yield attractiveness relative to comparable fixed-income alternatives. Goldman Sachs' consolidated price-to-book ratio of 2.27 and beta of 1.348 provide context for credit analysts evaluating the firm's balance sheet strength and the security of preferred dividend payments. Coverage of preferred instruments typically originates from fixed-income desks rather than equity research departments at major Wall Street firms.
