Italy remains one of Europe's most competitive mobile markets, with some operators offering 100-gigabyte monthly plans for under 10 euros ($11.78). The prolonged price war has eroded margins across the telecoms sector, prompting carriers to consider new revenue models.

TIM SA in talks to buy back majority stake in Brazilian fibre unit, sources say

Brazilian telecoms operator TIM SA is in talks to buy back a 51% stake in a fibre-network business it previously controlled under a deal that could be worth around $170 million, two people with knowledge of the matter ‌said. TIM SA, which is majority owned by Telecom Italia, sold the stake in I-Systems, which was then called FiberCo, to independent ‌communications infrastructure company IHS Towers in 2021. In a securities filing, TIM SA confirmed it has been holding non-binding talks with IHS Brasil for the purchase of a stake in I-Systems, without providing further details.
